The Meibukan Hombu Dojo began in 1952 and within 8 years began its worldwide growth of affiliated dojos. During his life, its founder, Yagi Meitoku – Dai Sensei, appointed a number of representatives. Along with Japanese and Okinawan affiliates, the Meibukan had its first international affiliate in 1960 when Anthony Mirakian of the USA opened North American first school of Okinawan Goju Ryu. Along with Japan, Okinawa, and USA, the Hombu Dojo today also has affiliates in India, Canada, and Australia.
